about

Originally a Sweet Madness song that was never recorded. This Next Exit version was recorded in 1981.

lyrics

I could search out for you like a plant seeks out the light
I could seek and find you like a beacon in the night
I could taste you in me like the coffee when I wake
Savor you in moments and then grab all I can take

And I could really get addicted to you
I could reach for you, And I wanted to you
And I could really get addicted to you
I should fall for you, but I’m not going to

I could seek your shelter like an orphan in the night
Learn to miss your presence when you wander out of sight
We could grow together till we almost seem like one
Voices find each other and just blend in unison

And I could really get addicted to you
I could reach for you, And I wanted to you
And I could really get addicted to you
I should fall for you, but I’m not going to

Sometimes I get too close, sometimes I overdose

about

Next Exit Seattle, Washington

In 1981 Sweet Madness ditched Spokane for Seattle and changed their name to Next Exit.

The new lineup featured a more guitar-driven sound, with lead guitarist Greg Morlan replacing keyboardist John Robison.

For their first live show, they played at a Drive-In Movie Theater on the roof of the concession stand.

Static Cling was the first song they wrote with the new lineup.
