about

One of the earliest Sweet Madness songs circa 1977. Never recorded in the studio.

lyrics

What have they done to you, you don’t even seem the same
Why don’t you answer me, you don’t even hear your name
How can I sleep with all these pictures in my head
How can I stop the flow of life you left for dead?

Would you please stop pacing the floor
Please stop pacing the floor
I can’t sleep, I can’t even think
Please stop pacing the floor

When did they turn the page
When did you lose it all
When did they write you off
Could nothing break your fall?

How can I sleep with all these pictures in my head
How can I stop the flow of life you left for dead

Would you please stop pacing the floor
Please stop pacing the floor
I can’t sleep, I can’t even think
Please stop pacing the floor

Would you
Would you please
Would you please stop
Would you please stop now
Would you please stop now
Would you please stop now

Would you please stop pacing the floor
Please stop pacing the floor
I can’t sleep, I can’t even think
Please stop pacing the floor

about

Next Exit Seattle, Washington

In 1981 Sweet Madness ditched Spokane for Seattle and changed their name to Next Exit.

The new lineup featured a more guitar-driven sound, with lead guitarist Greg Morlan replacing keyboardist John Robison.

For their first live show, they played at a Drive-In Movie Theater on the roof of the concession stand.

Static Cling was the first song they wrote with the new lineup.
